Coping with cancer or any type of disease is challenging. Your physical well-being may be compromised, and feelings of uncertainty naturally can arise. How you deal with these challenges can have a very real effect on your emotional well-being, your immune function and your ability to combat disease.
I obtained my Ph.D. from U.S.C.
with an emphasis in medical psychology, and for over 20 years have conducted psycho-oncology research and provided psychological treatment to medical patients and their loved ones. Successful psychological treatment is rooted in implementing effective interventions along with an understanding that every patient has unique needs. I have helped people of all ages and backgrounds throughout all aspects of the illness experience, and will approach your situation with care and compassion. Together, we will devise an individualized
goal-oriented treatment plan
of proven methods that will help you cope adaptively, improve your outlook, and increase your confidence in moving forward.
In addition to dealing with emotional distress, I understand that there are many incidental stressors that come with sickness. Navigating multiple doctors’ appointments, tests, and procedures can be overwhelming. With this in mind I also
offer a Patient Advocacy Service
. If desired, I can work closely with your medical team to coordinate care, attend medical appointments
when crucial decision-making information is being shared, and connect you with additional resources in order to offer whole-person care.
Currently, I am a consulting psychologist at the Cancer Center at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, and Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me for more information. Seeking professional psychological treatment is an important positive step
towards wellness. I am ready to listen, and give you the tools you need to deal with the challenges ahead.
